The following are the main objectives of setting up the Old Age Financial Protection Chair (OAFPC) and the Centre:-

  1. To enhance awareness on ageing and retirement issues amongst the Malaysian public, academia, policy makers, governmental and non-governmental agencies and the international community.
  2. To build strong fundamentals and knowledge in the field of public policy, especially regarding retirement and old age protection amongst faculty members of local universities and new graduates in related field of studies; and
  3. To promote public awareness on the potential of the elderly participating in economic and social activities in an ageing society besides formulating policies which enable the society to age in a healthy and a financially-secured environment.
