Providing a sustainable and adequate retirement income for pensioners is vital to ensure their wellbeing amidst an unpredictable future. As Asia Pacific embraces population ageing in an uncertain era, governments and policy makers are increasingly faced with the challenges of securing adequate social security for the rising older population. With the Asia-Pacific estimated to have close to 1.3 billion senior citizens in 30 years, is inclusive pension system attainable? What actions and precautions should the responsible players take in protecting the older population? Most importantly, can our pension system cope with unforeseen circumstances, such as the pandemic and the rising cost of living?
