Dr Amjad Rabi is a social security economist with extensive international experience across countries at different stages of development. He currently serves as a Visiting Expert at the Social Wellbeing Research Centre (SWRC), Universiti Malaya.
Prior to joining SWRC, he was the Chief Technical Adviser on Social Security for the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office in Iraq. He had earlier served as Social Security Adviser to the Employees Provident Fund Malaysia (EPF).
Throughout his career, Dr Amjad has held senior positions in United Nations country offices in Malaysia, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Egypt and Argentina, as well as at the United Nations headquarters in New York and Geneva. He has also taught at universities in Canada, Malaysia, the United States and Palestine.
Dr Amjad has provided coaching and specialised training on social security to senior government officials in numerous countries, including programmes delivered through the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO).
He holds a Doctorate in International Relations and master's degrees in Public Policy, Actuarial Science and Economics.
