Amjad Rabi is a social security economist with experience across many countries at different stages of development. Currently, he is a visiting expert at Universiti Malaya’s Social Wellbeing Research Centre (SWRC). Prior to joining SWRC, Amjad was the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) on Social Security for the ILO office in Iraq. He had earlier served as Social Security Advisor to the Employees Provident Funds Malaysia (EPF). As a social security economist, Amjad has held senior positions in the United Nations (UN) country offices in Malaysia, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Egypt, and Argentina and the UN headquarters in New York and Geneva. In addition, Amjad has taught at several universities in Canada, Malaysia, the USA, and Palestine. Amjad coached senior officials on social security in many countries and he has delivered specialized training at the ITC-ILO. He holds a Doctorate in International Relations, Master’s degrees in the areas of Public Policy, Actuarial Science and Economics.
