DR YAMUNAH DEVI APALASAMY

Dr Yamunah Devi Apalasamy is a Research Fellow at SWRC. She graduated with a PhD in Pharmacology and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) from the University of Malaya. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya since 2012. Her main research has focused on non-communicable diseases, particularly obesity. Her research interest is in the areas of social protection, wellbeing and ageing.

She has also served as a consultant for a project on Global Genomic Medicine to investigate the cost-effectiveness of genetic testing, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health, United States. During this time, she attended training in health economic evaluation models at the University of Mahidol, Thailand. She has published extensively in many acclaimed international journals such as the British Journal of Dermatology, Human Genetics, Pharmacogenetics and Genomics, Annals of Human Biology, Molecular Biology Report, Journal of Perinatology, Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health and etc.
