Aug 18, 2026
02.00 PM - 03.30 PM
InterContinental, Kuala Lumpur

The Institute of Strategic & International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia convened PRAXIS 2026 on 18 August 2026 at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, bringing together policymakers, private sector leaders, researchers and civil society to deliberate practical responses to Malaysia’s pressing developmental and policy challenges. Under the theme “Reimagining Visions of Progress,” the conference explored how Malaysia can move beyond high-income status towards broader measures of progress centred on wellbeing, inclusion, resilience and sustainability. In Session 3, “From Future Visions to Choices in the Present,” Emeritus Professor Datuk Norma Mansor, Director of the Social Wellbeing Research Centre (SWRC), Universiti Malaya, contributed perspectives on the wider social and human dimensions of progress, drawing on her work on the National Social Wellbeing Blueprint, the care economy and ageing. Her contribution highlighted the importance of placing social wellbeing and human development at the heart of Malaysia’s future policy choices, while recognising the fiscal, institutional and social realities shaping the country’s development path.
