The conference brought together policymakers, researchers, international organisations and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, experiences and policy approaches in response to the region's rapidly ageing population.
Held under the theme "Integration, Innovation and Sustainability: A Shared Agenda for Population Ageing," the conference explored key issues including the silver economy, technological innovation, sustainable long-term care systems and the development of inclusive, age-friendly societies. Discussions also addressed the importance of strengthening social protection, promoting intergenerational equity and supporting the continued participation of older persons in economic and social life.
As a panellist, Professor Norma contributed her perspectives on the policy challenges associated with population ageing, drawing on her extensive research and experience in social protection, retirement income security and public policy. Her participation highlighted the importance of forward-looking policy responses that strengthen financial security, promote dignity in later life and support sustainable social protection systems amid demographic change.
Her engagement at the conference reflects SWRC's continued commitment to international academic collaboration, knowledge exchange and evidence-based policymaking. It also reinforces the Centre's efforts to contribute to regional discussions on building inclusive, resilient and sustainable societies for people of all ages.
