The weight of Malaysia’s social challenges, from the shadows of domestic abuse to the rising tide of mental health struggles, demands more than just compassion; it demands a regulated, professional workforce. Currently, our social work landscape remains fragmented, leaving both practitioners and the vulnerable without a protective legal shield.

We must urgently move beyond "volunteerism" by passing the Social Work Profession Bill. Establishing a formal Council to oversee mandatory registration and ethical standards is not merely an administrative step; it is a moral imperative. Only through legal recognition can we ensure that every Malaysian in need receives support from a qualified professional, finally elevating social work to its rightful status as a cornerstone of our national development.
